Garden centre Juniper

Hi, Back in March i bought some commen junipers from my local garden centre at a fiver a pop. I have lots of other tree's but none i could do much with as i was looking for something i could style strait away. I have been tending container tree's for about five years now, learning what makes them tick and so on. Now i would say i am gaining the confidence to start trasining some of the stock i have so here goes.
This is one of the Junipers as it was when i took it home.

and after a lot of looking and snipping here and their
I eventually ended up doing this to the tree

This is of course by no means the final product but i thought it has the makings of a pretty looking bonsai.

And so on-to the next one.

After a lot of looking and snipping, going away and coming back again i almost decided to turn this one in to a wind swept style but i dont really like them.

And so i ended up with this, i have to say i think i would have preffered the wind swept style now but you live and learn and for a fiver you cant really go wrong.

I will post updates on these as they grow, i just have to learn how to control the growth of the needles and styleing of the pads
Please feel free to offer any comments you wish as i listen to any constructive input you leave.

Air layering

Hello and welcome to my Air layering page, i am going to attempt to air layer my Copper Beech
I have tried this for the last 2 years with no success, i have read as much as i can and i now think i am ready for success, fingers crossed.

Below a pictures.
The air layer on the Copper Beech,
started on the 19/02/11. 01/03/12 Their has been some root development
In the last year but i dont think it is read to
be parted from the tree just now as i can only see one
root and that is not from the cut i made in the bark.

i could restyle it.

Copper Beech as received 2 years ago.
I have just started an air layering
on the Copper Beech,
you can follow my progress by clicking on the link

Copper Beech in winter, I think a branch graft lower down the trunk would help. Tree un reduction.

Yew tree,
another donation from mums water logged garden
arriving in the spring of 2009.

After reading that these tree's don't enjoy being over watered
it finaly started to sprout new growth last summer.
I have since given this one a heavy chop.
update on its way.

A Chinese Juniper in need of saving.

Some of the old branches i removed from the other one
now rooted and ready for tranplant and training.

Osakazuki.

A variegated fig i am useing to practice my wireing skills.

A variegated fig that came in a clump
from a supermarket.

Another that came from the same place in a clump.

Reverse side of the one above, i think the lower branch
on the left has to go?

Silver Birch.

I was amazed to see how quickly the
bark had changed, i only hope it survives
as it was pulled from the ground
before i could prep it for extraction.
